Similarities Poster 1 by Wolf-Daughter Similarities Poster 1 by Wolf-Daughter
Poster for Similarities, a fictional non-profit organization.

The concept behind Similarities is to show how humans and other species are alike, how we feel, have emotion, attachments to others, and even families. This series focused on wolves.

I kept the illustrations as simple line-drawings to focus on the expression and emotion instead of race or color.

To clarify, the word "species" is plural. I have respect for all creatures, not just wolves. It sadness me that all species are declining in number.

My initial concept was to include multiple animals in this series. But this was a class assignment, and my college instructor told me that multiple animals would be inconsistent. She told me to pick one animal for the series. When I started this assignment about a year ago, wolves were taken off the endangered species list, and were almost immediately hunted for sport. So wolves became the focus after suggestions from my college instructor and a lot of extra thought.

In my first sketches, I think I only wanted to have the wolves on the billboard. Now, I hope no one else has a problem with the series only focusing on wolves. It wasn't entirely my choice.

This is very true! DX Wolves are so beautiful and intelligent. When will people realize they're killing someone with feelings?

Research is being done every day. I read some recent articles, and most scientists that study animal behavior will now tell you that humans are not the only creatures capable of emotion and forming strong bonds will other members of the species.

You are right. The general public needs to be informed. And it's not just their cuddly dogs, cats, and horses that feel.

Thanks for the comment, and adding this series to your faves.

This is true, true, true true.
I SO do not support animal cruelty.

Good good. I feel like I want to print this and put it on my school's bulletin board..
